The main score was composed with the objective of conveying “the mischievous humor and mounting suspense of Gremlins”. Chris Columbus was a fledgling writer when Steven Spielberg optioned his screenplay about little creatures terrorizing small-town America. The Gremlins was Dahl’s very first book for children.
